I’m really looking forward to graduating, mostly because it will be much harder to procrastinate on homework. Only three weeks left of school and four months until the wedding. Crunch time in so many ways.
Yesterday was my first bridal shower. It was just a few close friends and me and we had a great time. We had my all-time favorite pulled pork sandwich from Donnelly’s in Iowa City. I was very excited as this is really my favorite treat. We also had chips and salsa, deviled eggs, cupcakes, cake pops, strawberry lemonade, and pie. It was all incredibly yummy.
It was a pretty nice day and we all wore dresses (well, Katharyne, my maid of honor, changed at the last-minute but she was wearing a dress). And then when we went out to the parking lot to put my presents in the car we flashed everyone! It’s been quite windy in Iowa this weekend.
It was a great party and time really flew by. We all couldn’t believe it when the clock said six.
Saturday was the release party for earthwords, the literary magazine I’ve worked on for the last three years. That’s really the final big event we do each year, which means my time there is basically done. We are interviewing for new staff members (and my replacement) next weekend. earthwords has been such a big part of my life during college. I remember when I was a freshman and found out I was picked as an editor–I was so excited. It’s been a frustrating, hilarious, and rewarding experience. I’m sure I’ll look back on it as one of the best things I did in college.
I took a whole week off of running due to injury, and this past weekend I got in a two-mile run on Saturday and a 2.7 mile run on Sunday. They seemed like really short runs, but after running 4+ miles on almost every run the past few weeks it was really a welcome change. I have a 5K this weekend and a 10K the next, so I need to be pretty on top of my running the next couple of weeks. So far everything is going well and I hope it remains that way.
Do you have any big changes occurring in your life? What do you remember fondly from college?

Sounds like you had a fun and full weekend! Great dress btw!
Very full, Monday came too fast! And thanks on the dress, it’s a very fun print.
You look FANTASTIC! What a wonderful time in your life. I’m so glad you’re enjoying it.
Thanks so much! I’m trying to live every day to the fullest.
So excited for you and all the changes coming your way. It’s gonna be an exciting ride, for sure. That dress is ADORABLES!
Biggest change for me lately: New job (ack!)
Best thing from college: The friends who were as warped as me who I can now stalk on Facebook.
