This past weekend was a full one. On Saturday Jason and I headed downtown for the Iowa Craft Brew Festival, which took place on the bridge pictured above. This is the second craft beer festival we’ve been to and it’s something we both truly enjoy. This time around we each sampled 14 beers, which ended up being the equivalent of about three beers. We skipped our favorite breweries because they didn’t have anything out of the ordinary and tried to focus on brand new breweries or places we’d never heard of before. The stand out brewery for me was the up and coming Okoboji Brewing Company, which had an absolutely amazing farmhouse ale that was unusually spicy. They also had a nice American Pale Ale, which was quite a bit hoppier than I normally think APAs are. In short, they’re very daring and I expect a lot of great things from them.
Eventually it started raining and we’d had our fill of beer, so it was home to take a nap for this girl.
I had a wonderful Father’s Day with my Dad yesterday. We went for a ten-mile bike ride and ride on his Harley, so there were all sorts of two-wheeled activities going on. The best part for me was when he said it was the best Father’s Day he’d ever had. We also visited my grandpa, who had a very heartfelt reaction to my recent weight loss that I will never forget.
I had a phone interview for my dream job last week, but won’t hear any more for a couple of weeks. In the mean time I’m just trying to enjoy the time off like you all suggested! It can be hard, but also fun.

I hope you hear back from that job!
